<![CDATA[Without the Word of God we are wandering around in darkness, Psalms 119:105 shows us that it gives us direction, "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
This instruction is just as relevant today as it was when it was written. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." My understanding of this scripture is that by reading the Bible, our sin and intentions will be revealed. We can use that revelation to correct our behavior to honor God. 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV) also says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” So we can be confident that following His Word will allow be for good!
If we honor Him, we can stand on those promises and receive His blessings.
1 John 5:14-15 (ESV), “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” So reading His Word will help us determine if what we are seeking is according to His will.
Psalm 119:1 says, “I have store up your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
If we memorize those scriptures, they get planted in our hearts and give us the strength we need in order to fight against the enemy in our pursuit of God’s blessings.
